The LTE Broadcast Alliance, in good faith and on a non-exclusive basis, collaborates to support the development and adoption of LTE Broadcast, by – further exploring the potential for LTE Broadcast stimulating momentum in the industry to adopt LTE Broadcast – sharing vision and expertise for the evolution of LTE Broadcast – facilitating conferences related to LTE Broadcast and its use, and promoting LTE Broadcast at relevant conferences.
LTE Broadcast technology (also known as eMBMS, and LTE Multicast) is enabling a broad range of different services and applications as it is introduced into wireless operator networks around the world. It is also enabling re-imagining of existing services. To realise the full potential of the technology requires further work on the part of network equipment vendors, network operators, chipset, middleware and device vendors, and standardisation bodies. However, the benefits of LTE Broadcast to players throughout the wireless industry and beyond are now clear, thanks to several commercial and trial deployments, and the growth of streaming video consumption.
We promote, encourage and support the development of a competitive ecosystem for LTE Broadcast, open to all products and entrants, including but not limited to LTE Broadcast baseband, wireless core and RAN network support, Multimedia Broadcast/Multicast Service (MBMS) gateways, Broadcast Service Center, LTE enablers, network support for network session continuity and MBMS operation on demand (MOOD), integrated devices, chipset support, enabling platforms, middleware and on-device apps.
We liaise with standards organisations that may work to produce or adapt their own standards and specifications that enable interoperation of independently developed implementations of LTE Broadcast products. We share information in support of the above aims, including through meetings, conferences, discussions, documents, papers and promotional materials. The Alliance activities do not extend to the development of international technical standards or specifications for LTE Broadcast. The intention is that those will be developed by/through other international bodies, including standards organisations

LTE Broadcast – Lessons Learned from Trials and Early Deployments
The benefits of LTE Broadcast to players throughout the wireless industry and beyond are now clear, thanks to several commercial and trial deployments. This white paper explains how LTE Broadcast has evolved from a network technology initially intended to support the efficient streaming of live video to multiple users in a single venue, to a way of supporting a large number of different services over large geographical regions. It describes the way players in the LTE Broadcast ecosystem have successfully worked together to finalize network implementations and prove commercial success. The report also shows the growing momentum behind LTE Broadcast as more services are prepared for launch.
